Sing With Chicago Promotion is a Hit
Round two of the promotion to fight breast cancer is underway with the multi-platinum-selling Doobie Brothers joining the bill
ATLANTA - June 29, 2010 - How have people described the once-in-a-lifetime chance to fight breast cancer while singing onstage with the legendary rock band, Chicago?
"Tonight was about… helping others, having fun, taking risks, living dreams and celebrating our youthfulness... It was well beyond memorable for this life-long-crazy fan of Chicago; it was defining." - Jeff from California
“The whole experience has been life changing, humbling and gratifying beyond words. Please join us, support the fight against breast cancer, and Sing with Chicago.” - Mary from California
“I never dreamed I could be onstage with them, but the ACS "Sing with Chicago" promotion, gave me the chance… Contributed to a great cause and had a lifelong dream fulfilled. Wow!” - Doug from Ontario
“This is a 'must do' for any true Chicago fan, and if breast cancer has ever impacted your life ... a triple 'must do' experience of a lifetime. THANKS CHICAGO!”- Stephen from Louisiana
The band and the American Cancer Society, the Official Sponsor of Birthdays®, recently kicked off the second leg of Sing With Chicago, a highly successful promotion launched in April that has given a winner at every show on the band's current U.S. tour the opportunity to create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays. Sing With Chicago has swept the nation, raising tens of thousands of dollars for the fight against breast cancer by auctioning off the chance to sing on stage with the band and giving all fans a chance to text to give to the cause.
Adding to the fun as Sing With Chicago continues to build momentum, the Doobie Brothers, one of America's most iconic bands, are joining Chicago on the road. The double bill runs through July 22nd, and Chicago will continue to tour, and fans will continue to Sing With Chicago through August 28. Fans in each city can bid on a package that includes two premium tickets, backstage passes and the opportunity to sing the hit song If You Leave Me Now onstage with the band. Anyone can bid using the online auction on Mission Fish, the charitable arm of E-bay. All proceeds directly benefit the Society's fight against breast cancer.
Winners from the first leg of the tour were so moved by the experience, that they launched the Face Book group “I Sang With Chicago”, where they share stories about their concerts, and some have posted videos of themselves on stage singing with the band. To see this public group, visit www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=116983118321579&v=wall&ref=search.
Enthusiasm has been running very high among the lucky winners. Here is more of what they have been saying about this incredible experience:
“I'm so forever grateful, both to Chicago and the American Cancer Society, for making this dream come true for me!!! It's also very gratifying to know that this whole experience is raising money and awareness toward the fight against breast cancer.” - Tracy from Texas
“Having the opportunity to sing onstage with my favorite band, and to support the American Cancer Society at the same time was truly a dream come true… I am not a singer but the band made me feel like one that night, as well as the supportive audience who cheered me on. Writing that big check was the easiest thing I have ever done, knowing that it was going to (the Society) and supporting their good works. Thanks Chicago for giving me a night I will never forget!” - Catherine from California
“It was a dream come true. I watch the video of it and I still can't believe that it happened.” - Michelle from Hawaii
While only one fan can win each auction, all fans at the concerts have an opportunity to help save lives and support the breast cancer fight by making a one-time donation to the American Cancer Society by texting the word Chicago to 20222. Fans will also be encouraged to join the growing movement for more birthdays at morebirthdays.com.

About the American Cancer Society
The American Cancer Society combines an unyielding passion with nearly a century of experience to save lives and end suffering from cancer. As a global grassroots force of more than three million volunteers, we fight for every birthday threatened by every cancer in every community. We save lives by helping people stay well by preventing cancer or detecting it early; helping people get well by being there for them during and after a cancer diagnosis; by finding cures through investment in groundbreaking discovery; and by fighting back by rallying lawmakers to pass laws to defeat cancer and by rallying communities worldwide to join the fight. As the nation's largest non-governmental investor in cancer research, contributing more than $3.4 billion, we turn what we know about cancer into what we do. As a result, more than 11 million people in America who have had cancer and countless more who have avoided it will be celebrating birthdays this year.
